We don’t need more proof.
We need action.
Only 27% of Canadian girls meet physical activity guidelines. Many drop out of sport or movement after childhood—not because they’ve changed, but because the systems around them have.
We know that physical activity supports mental health, builds identity, and reduces risks like substance use and social isolation. But too many girls are still excluded from meaningful participation in sport and movement.
The Government of Canada’s Gender Equity in Sport Strategy calls for inclusive, barrier-free environments—and we couldn’t agree more. Systemic issues like cultural exclusion, financial barriers, and time poverty continue to push girls out. Equity in sport isn’t just a goal—it’s a responsibility we share.
